Hughes & Netskope: Partnering for Powerful SASE Performance
Modern businesses have been transitioning for the past several years towards a convergence in network and security. Businesses know they must provide secure, reliable connectivity across all locations, while staying ahead of malicious attacks and bad actors that are continuously working to penetrate protected environments.
One of the more popular methods being employed by businesses today is Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), a cloud first security posture that combines security controls with superior network infrastructure for a fast, secure network environment.
Hughes partnered with Netskope to bring customers a SASE solution that combines Hughes Managed SD-WAN services with Netskope’s industry-leading secure service edge (SSE) solutions. SASE is a network architecture that combines SD-WAN and SSE into a unified cloud service that provides simplified WAN deployments and improved efficiency and security.
The Netskope partnership brings a full-stack SASE platform to the Hughes Managed Services portfolio that can secure data and people anywhere, offer access to 24/7 security operations center (SOC) protections, and provide customers with high levels of connectivity, protection, and reliability.
Why Hughes and Netskope for SASE
The Hughes-Netskope partnership brings powerful capabilities across networking and security to our customers—delivered with our award-winning managed services.
Hughes has a long history of providing a wide range of managed services to our customers, supporting more than 50,000 managed SD-WAN sites around the world—including a single deployment of 9,500 sites. More than a decade ago, Hughes initially developed its cost-effective SD-WAN solutions, which have since garnered industry recognition from research firms Frost & Sullivan and IDC. Hughes was named a Leader in the 2023 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Managed Network Services. Hughes combines optimal technology and deployment plans with comprehensive analytics that will best meet customer's operational needs with improved network performance, reduced complexity, and comprehensive security.
According to Frost & Sullivan, “Hughes has leveraged its long history in the satellite business to become a managed services leader through its strong commitment to customer service and continued innovation. … In the active and growing managed SD-WAN market, Hughes has carved out an attractive space: large enough to infuse its offerings with next-generation technology, and small enough to focus on the unique needs of clients.”
Separately, Netskope SSE consolidates business critical security services and ensures secure access to web, cloud services, and private apps from any location. As partners, Hughes and Netskope offer customers an extremely powerful, capable SASE solution with high levels of performance, protection, and reliability. Netskope’s cloud-native SSE stack includes cloud firewall, SWG, inline CASB, ZTNA, and data and threat protection capabilities.
The Hughes-Netskope partnership brings customers a disruptive SASE solution that bundles SD-WAN with all the elements of a comprehensive, cloud-delivered security posture, along with an option to integrate with existing SD-WAN deployments using Netskope SSE.
Hughes Managed SASE Services
Hughes has decades of experience managing complex networks, and we have built comprehensive security capabilities into our Managed SASE services.
- Firewall-as-a-Service (FWaaS): Enables centralized management of security traffic, filters network traffic, and offers consistent security enforcement for applications and users, regardless of their location.
- CASB: Monitors and controls data access and usage across multiple cloud platforms, safeguarding the network against cloud-based threats and protecting sensitive data from unauthorized access or leaks.
- SWG: Provides advanced web filtering capabilities and protects users from web-based threats, while also preventing access to malicious websites, blocking malware downloads, and detecting and thwarting phishing attacks.
- ZTNA: Authenticates and validates every network access request, assuming no user or device can be trusted and granting access only after identity verification.
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP): Prevents leaks by monitoring data movement, stopping unauthorized sharing of sensitive information, protecting data at rest, in motion, and in use, and spotting suspicious data movement that might indicate a security breach.
In fact, Hughes Managed SASE has a more complete DLP than competing solutions, with the ability to detect suspicious transfers of files that might indicate an attack. These file transfers (whether they be through email or generic file transfers) can be prevented, stopping would-be cybercriminals from exporting customer data or personally identifiable information (PII). Hughes also offers Remote Browser Isolation (RBI) and Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM), which are not directly SASE components but can be integrated to increase cloud security.
In addition to all these security capabilities, Hughes also has the ability to overlay other security services into customer security postures as needed, including Managed Detection and Response (MDR), Security Operations Center as a Service (SOCaaS), Network Detection and Response (NDR), Ransomware and Zero Day Prevention, and Managed UTM (Unified Threat Management). There is no other SASE vendor who has the completeness of vision in both networking and security services that Hughes does.
